Our team of coaches are calling "film plays" while developing stories of desegregation
in our first feature documentary. Next, the coaches will follow up with an episodic tv film series
concluding with a narrative feature length movie. This is social entrepreneurship at the top of its game.

Sam Oni (Film Advisor) - Coach SAMU
Born in the Gold Coast in 1941, Sam Oni, as a youngster, witnessed the birth the new nation. The agitation and struggle that brought freedom to Ghana and its people provided the opportune environment for a young man like Sam Oni to cut his political teeth. This encounter developed into a working relationship and later resulted in his being admitted in 1963 as the first black student to attend Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. His four-year experience at Mercer, amidst the roiling racial upheaval of the period was, needless to say, rather challenging. He has often spoken of the test of his Christian faith during this period as a “recurring spiritual nightmare”. During his tenure at Mercer, Sam Oni became actively involved the civil rights movement in the city of Macon, working very closely with the then civil rights leader in Macon, the late Mr. William Randall. Upon graduation in 1967, he proceeded to the University of California, Berkeley for graduate studies. There he achieved a master’s degree in journalism and was also advanced to candidacy for the Ph.D. degree in political science. In 1968, he participated in the Poor People’s Campaign in Washington, D C. This was the last project that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had planned before his tragic assassination in Memphis, Tennessee. Sam Oni has had a rather diverse working and professional experience. He has worked as a college teacher, journalist, magazine editor, public speaker, consultant, small business owner and as community developer and served the government both in the United States and in Nigeria. |
